Dhanya is an international journalist and communications leader with over 15 years of experience across India, the Middle East, and the UK. She combines a distinguished editorial career spanning investigative journalism, news reporting, feature writing, and multimedia storytelling with deep expertise in strategic communications, brand narrative, media relations, and digital audience development.
Dhanya has built publications and communications functions from the ground up — growing organic audiences, securing government recognition, winning CSR funding, and delivering campaigns with measurable international impact across three continents.
Her career highlights include growing a B2B publication's LinkedIn presence from zero to nearly 8,000 organic followers as Editor-in-Chief of PrintWeek MENA Magazine, conceiving and leading a COVID-19 community engagement campaign that transformed a regional Indian education magazine into an internationally recognised platform reaching audiences across India, the Middle East, the UK, and the United States, and producing investigative journalism that consistently achieved direct government intervention on issues affecting marginalised communities.
Dhanya holds an MSc in International Journalism with Distinction from the University of Stirling, UK — where her investigative documentary on the closure of Glasgow East Women's Aid was nominated for the Dee Amy Chinn Prize in Gender and Feminist Studies and awarded the highest grade in her cohort. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in PR and Advertising with First Class honours from Kerala Media Academy, India.
She is a student member of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) and a PVG Scheme member in Scotland. She champions solutions journalism, press freedom, and the vital role of local reporting in strengthening communities and democratic values. She is particularly committed to rebuilding audience trust in an era shaped by social media and artificial intelligence.

Trailer | 'The Abandoned': A Documentary on the Unexplained Shutdown of Glasgow East Women's Aid
A reputed domestic abuse charity in the Greater Easterhouse area of Glasgow closed its doors permanently due to bankruptcy on the 29th of February 2024 after 30 years of operation. The closure, which initially appeared to be an unfortunate outcome of a dispute between the Board of Directors and employees, turned out to be a complex web of mystery.
I invite you all to listen to a 5-minute podcast on the rise of female referees in football.
